I have received several mails asking more detail on article about healthy living.
Well,human body is alkaline.It has to maintain slightly alkaline body plasma.If we take too much acidic food which we do, the body has to restore balance by extracting calcium Fromm bones and other places like teeth etc.That is the reason more and more people are getting dental caries and arthritis and brittle bones.Add to this lack of Vitamin D due to lack of sunlight and animal products that vegetarians don't eat.The recipe is strong for orthopedic problems.
Harmful bacteria develop in acidic environment and good ones in alkaline environment.
All kinds of medicines and cereals are strongly acidic and kill useful bacteria. Sugar,salt and milk is also harmful though curd and buttermilk is healthy.
I give hereunder indicative list of alkaline and acidic foods.One should eat 70-30 ratio and not vice versa.
And why should one exercise? Well about 1/3rd of body toxins are removed by sweat only.Otherwise it will have heavy burden on liver and kidney.Most of us cant breathe properly by middle age since we never expand our lungs to their capacity in normal working life.Now air conditioned cars and elevators have finished little bit of chance that was available.hence pranayama helps in that.

Apple is and watermelon are diuretic in nature and help reduce salts in body and keep kidney healthy.

Flax
Buckwheat Groats
Cumin Seeds
Any sprouted seed
Drinks:

Pure water (distilled or ionised)
Lemon water (pure water + fresh lemon or lime).
Herbal Tea
Vegetable broth
Non-sweetened Soy Milk
Almond Milk
Never tea,coffee and carbonated drinks like colas.
Fat and oils:

Flax
Hemp
Avocado
Olive
Evening Primrose
Borage
Coconut Oil
Others:

Sprouts (soy, alfalfa, mung bean, wheat, little radish , chickpea, broccoli etc)
Let me repeat that fats and oils should not exceed 10-15 ml per day ( 3 tea spoons)and carbohydrate based foods should be minimised as much as possible.Avoid sugar and salt as much as possible.Drink lot of water ( 3-4 litres a day in summers).If your mouth remains dry normally and specially in night ,it is fit case for dental problems.hence use mouth wash before sleeping.
One can check the alkalinity by saliva Ph test.Such paper strips are available in market.
